In 1955, Kaiser introduced the CJ-5, based on the 1951 Korean War M-38 A1. It had a rounded front fender and was slightly larger than the CJ-3B. The company made improvements to ride and handling and the vehicles began to attract more interest.
A long-wheelbase model was introduced, called the CJ-6. Other than its wheelbase, the CJ-6 was almost identical to the CJ-5.
The CJ-5 was produced for three decades, the longest run for any Jeep.
