The Chevy Silverado 2500 (a 3/4 ton truck) and 3500 (a 1-ton truck) are both capable of those tasks, and the company's 2009 heavy duty lineup includes several updates to features and options.

- Dually trucks have box side lights and cab lights that are integrated into the roof
- Silverado 3500HD models are available with an 8 foot box and dual rear wheel configuration; widened steel fenders are integrated into the bedsides
Early Chevy dually trucks were conversions from regular-bed pickups. Fiberglass fenders were used, primarily because it they made it easier to modify the bed. Today's more durable steel fenders are a part of the truck's bedside and don't look like an afterthought.
Silverado HD Powertrain
- Standard: 6.0L gas powered V-8 engine with variable valve timing; 360 hp and 380 lb.-ft. of torque; paired with a 6-speed automatic
- Optional: Duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel engine; 365 horsepower and 660 lb.-ft. of torque; Allison 1000 6-speed transmission with gear options to match towing jobs and other specific conditions
- Fleets: The Duramax can be configured to run on biodiesel fuel

- Maximum towing capacity is 13,000 pounds -- 16,700 pounds for Silverado HD trucks equipped with a fifth-wheel hitch.
Silverado HD trucks equipped with a gas-burning V8 have a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 18,500 pounds.

- Front safety belt pretensioners with both front and rear crash sensing
- Standard four-wheel disc brakes with a four-channel ABS system

- Extended cab trucks have power rear windows that lower all the way down.
- An optional power-operated back window is available on extended and crew cab trucks.
- Extended and crew cab trucks can also be fitted with a power-operated sunroof.
- Manual climate control is standard, but a dual-zone automatic system is available, and allows an up to 30-degree difference in temp settings between the driver and front passenger.
- Glove box and console configuration depends on the trim level. Trucks with premium interiors have a single glove box and an extra large console (10.1 liters). Other HD trucks have two glove boxes, one above the other.
- LT trucks have an armrest storage console and lockable underseat storage bin located under the center seat cushion (large enough to hold a laptop).
- Radio systems vary and all include standard XM Satellite.
