2007 Chevy Avalanche LT 4WD with Z71 Offroad Package

2007 Chevy Avalanche LT 4WD

First Impression of the 2007 Chevy Avalanche: The first thing I noticed when approaching the 2007 Avalanche was the absence of the plastic body cladding that the vehicle had always been trimmed with. That was a good move on Chevy's part -- ripping off the plastic makes the newly designed body even more obvious. Sleeker, cleaner, more sophisticated.
Inside the Avalanche: The power adjustable seat and foot pedals made it easy to get comfortable driving the Avalanche. The overall visibility was good and the truck's large outside mirrors helped that even more. The vehicle was loaded with options inside, like XM-Satellite, OnStar (including a hands free cell phone that works through the system), a DVD player for rear seat occupants, a navigation system, a rear view camera and parking distance sensors. The leather seats were comfortable and zoned heating and air allowed for personal climate control.
Driving the Avalanche: The Avalanche is designed to be used as a truck when you need a truck, but the ride it gives is closer to the feel of an SUV. It corners real well and you don't feel every bump in the road. I didn't have a chance to tow anything with the Avalanche or drive it with a load, but the truck had good acceleration and its anti-lock brakes had a positive feel to them. In the photo gallery you'll see a button on the end of the shift lever. Give it a push and you'll change the transmission's programming to minimize the irrirating up and down shifting that usually occurs during towing and hauling.
Engine and Transmission: This Avalanche was powered by a 5.3L V-8 engine with a four-speed automatic transmission. The 4WD system utilizes an Autotrac transfer case that features four drive modes.
Pricing and Fuel Economy: The base price for the 2007 Avalance is $35,670. This vehicle had options totalling $9,815, for a grand total of $46,385. The Avalanche is rated at 15 mpg in city driving and 20 mpg on the highway. Your mileage will vary. This Avalanche is E85 compatible -- a standard feature on 4WD models and an option on 2WD trucks.
