Diesel-powered vehicles aren't rated for fuel economy, but the new Liberty CRD should far surpass its gas-powered counterparts in terms of fuel used and dollars spent. (Estimated mileage for gas engine Liberty models ranges from 17/22 for 6-cylinder vehicles up to 20/24 mpg for the 4-cylinder SUVs.)

At about $30,000, the initial price of the Liberty CRD is significantly more than what you'll pay for a gas-powered Liberty, but you'll have a car that runs cleaner and saves you money in fuel. That might be just the right combo for your needs.

Colin Hefferon, one of our Test Drive Team, gave the Liberty CRD five out of five stars--not a designation he awards lightly. His review of the 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD will give you an in-depth look at the vehicle and its capabilities.
