The 2004 Honda Pilot features a 240-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 engine, a 5-speed automatic transmission, and Honda's Variable Torque Management 4WD, a system designed to offer improved traction in all conditions. The SUV seats 8 adults, using two front bucket seats and two rows of 60/40 split folding seats in the rear.

The Pilot is available in two trim levels, the LX and the EX. Standard LX features include:

  • Air conditioning
  • Cruise control
  • AM/FM stereo with in-dash CD player
  • Driver and front passenger front and side airbags
  • Power windows, power mirrors, power door locks
  • Second row of rear seating adjustable fore and aft, with improved access to the third row
  • Parking brake and seat belt reminder systems

For the EX models, add on:

  • Aluminum alloy wheels
  • Synchronized front and rear automatic climate control
  • Seven-speaker, 155-watt, stereo
  • EX models with leather are available with either a Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System or Honda DVD Entertainment System
  • Models with leather have heated seats and side mirrors

Navigation System Updates
For 2004, the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System has an updated database with 48-state coverage and a new route guidance method for unverified roads.

Other Features

  • Center console with large storage bin, dedicated cell phone cradle, 12-volt power outlet, CD storage tray and removable cup holders.
  • EX models have a second-row fold-down activity tray with cup holders and storage for small game machines and other small items, plus a special holder for fast food sauce containers.

Safety & Environmental Issues

  • The NHTSA* awarded the 2004 Pilot its top rating of five-stars for the SUV's performance in frontal and side impacts.
  • The Pilot is ranked as a Low Emission Vehicle (LEV).
  • Fuel economy ratings are 17-city and 22-highway.
  • The Pilot is assembled with 90 percent recyclable components.
