Everything about a Lexus – any Lexus – seems to bespeak quality. The real wood highlights on the transmission, dash and doors add warmth to what could be a forbiddingly high tech cabin – what with all the electronic gadgetry that comes with the hybrid drive system. The front seats are a very nice place to be. The wooden steering wheel with leather grips at 3 and 9 o’clock is a signature piece on a Lexus.

Women especially, but just about everyone excepting perhaps hard-ass rappers and F-1 wannabes, will love the command seating position easily achieved using the full power adjustments on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s seat. They make this big, heavy automobile seem somehow lighter and less bulky.

A simply fabulous Lexus Premium system produces concert hall sound in the otherwise almost silent cabin. The Mark Levinson system is optional.

While the original RX 300 had dreadful visibility from rear seats because of the low seating position and the front headrests blocking the forward view, the latest design on the RX has cut-out headrests and theatre-type seating. Rear seat visibility is excellent. The new RX offers supremely comfortable seating for four adults. Five can be accommodated in a pinch.
