Promise of Good Fuel Economy
Ford chose a Duratec 30 3.0 liter V-6 engine for the Fairlane Concept, mating it with a six-speed automatic transmission in order to achieve a combination of decent fuel economy and smooth, quick acceleration.
The Fairlane has all wheel drive and four-wheel independent suspension. That combination yields a smooth ride and the ability to handle well on slick road surfaces.
Ford plans to use a similar architecture in up to ten different vehicles in its production lineup.
