What's in a Name?
It's been a lot of years since Ford first put the tag Fairlane on a vehicle. The term was borrowed from Henry Ford's Fair Lane Estate, a home built with fine craftsmanship, stately without being overly pretentious.
The name suited vintage Fords that bore the Fairlane emblem, vehicles that were built for everyday use and to haul people in comfort and style, but not necessarily in luxury.
Even though Ford's new Fairlane Concept is a whole lot different than vintage versions, it remains a people mover, one with simple, elegant lines and a style that looks like an SUV on the exterior with the layout and space of a minivan inside.
