Kia brought its little open-air concept to the 2009 North American International Auto Show, tagging it the Soul'ster to point out its relationship to the new Kia Soul (on sale in the spring of 2009).
The 2-door, 4-seater front-wheel drive Soul'ster is painted bright Soul'r yellow, with a soft top and 2-piece roof that lets drivers customize the seating. The little concept looks like it might have a micro-car, a roadster and a pickup truck in its family tree.
Kia suggested a couple of configurations for a production Soul'ster, one with a 1.6L, 4-cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission (about 120 horsepower); another with more power from a 2L 4-cylinder engine and a choice of transmissions (about 140 horsepower). Fuel economy for either engine would be about 30 mpg.
