The Willys Quad was designed by Willys-Overland VP of Engineering Delmar G. Roos. In 1941 the US Army contracted with the company to build 1,500 Quads, 1,500 Pygmies (Ford), and 1,500 40 BRCs (Bantam). The Willys vehicle became the Army's standard.
