The Chevy Avalanche has been redesigned for 2007, based on a new full-size SUV platform. The new Avalanche has GM's StabiliTrack--a stability control system--plus standard front air bags and optional side curtain airbags.
The 2007 Avalanche is available in three models, the LS, LT and LTZ, and with 2WD or 4WD. The 5.3L V-8 has GM's Active Fuel Management system, which switches the engine from 8-cylinders to four-cylinders when extra power isn't needed in order to save fuel. A 6.0L all-aluminum V-8 will be introduced later in the model year.
The 5.3L Avalanche is capable of running on E85 fuel.
