Smart Fortwo Convertible
Short and compact, the Smart Fortwo is smaller than a vintage VW bug. Penske Automotive Group, the U.S. distributor, received more than 1,400 applications for Smart dealerships, but chosen only 70 dealers to begin selling the cars in 2008. Two versions of the car are available, the convertible shown here and a coupe, both available in different trim levels.
If you want to decipher the name S-m-art:
S - for watchmaker Nicolas Hayek, of Swatch, whose vision it was to create a city car with interchangeable panels
m - for Mercedes, the company Hayek partnered with to build the car
art - what it says, art -- based on the cars' unique design
