Driving a Muddy Course
When driving in muddy conditions, even a slight incline can be a large obstacle. The LR3's traction control system allowed us to crawl through the course with barely a slip of the wheel. The anti-lock brakes helped us slow and stop without sliding, while maintaining control of the vehicle.
We used the LR3's Terrain Response, a feature that lets you dial up one of five terrain types--from on-road driving to snow, mud, sand and rocks. Just turn the dial and the LR3 adjusts itself to the surface you've chosen. We put the "mud" setting to use on this drive.
Don't assume this course is only for Land Rover owners or Land Rover enthusiasts--or only for people who are interested in offroading. Sure, they want to show you what the vehicles can do and they hope you'll like them enough to become an owner. But this class is good training for anyone who drives an SUV or wants to learn more about driving in general.
Learning the basics of driving in unusual conditions helps everyone, regardless of the type of vehicle they drive.
