FordLink - Mobile Office Technology for Ford Trucks
Portable laptop system with broadband connectivity

By , About.com Guide

September, 2006 Ford will offer its new FordLink(tm) business system on 2007 F-150 and Super Duty trucks. FordLink is a mobile office made up of a lightweight, touchscreen computer running Windows XP Professional. The system includes wireless broadband connectivity.

The FordLink system was originally introduced at the SEMA show in October, 2005. The system is designed to help contractors or anyone else use their truck as a rolling office. It includes a GPS navigation system with audio and USB ports.

The Azentek computer mounts in a cradle within reach of the driver's seat. It's powered by the truck's battery and directly connected to optional equipment such as a printer, credit card scanner, digital camera and GPS antenna.

The computer can be removed and carried around like any other laptop. Ford says the screen is designed to be visible in sunlight and that the computer is built to take a fair bit of rough treatment.

Microsoft Word and PowerPoint are two software applications are included.

FordLink is compatible with all Super Duty trucks from 1999 upward and F-150 trucks built since 2004. Check with your Ford dealer for more information about FordLink.
