2010 Ford Ranger Pickup Truck

At first glance, you might think the 2010 Ranger pickup is just like the 2009 truck, but a quick look at the equipment list reveals two new standard safety features.

  • The Ranger truck is equipped with Ford's AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control), an electronic stability control system that uses a gyroscope sensor to determine body roll angle and roll rate. If it senses that the truck is about to roll, the system kicks in, reducing engine power by up to 15-percent and/or applying brakes to one or more wheels to keep the vehicle upright and under control.

  • Head and chest combo side air bags offer enhanced protection during side impacts, cushioning the head during a crash and providing a barrier between the occupant and the side of the truck. The F-150 truck is equipped with a similar system.

Additional Ranger Truck Safety Features

The two new features join a wide range of standard safety features already available on Ford Ranger pickup trucks:

  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System
  • SecuriLock® anti-theft system
  • 4-wheel anti-lock brakes
  • Driver and front passenger air bags
  • Safety belts with front pretensioners
  • Front-passenger sensing system to keep air bags from deploying when a small child is riding in that position
  • LATCH in the front passenger seat

The Ranger has ranked number one in fuel economy among small trucks, a position that's likely to continue.

We'll know more about the 2010 Ford Ranger before its release in the summer of 2009.
