GM Cutting Jobs, Shutting Plants

Assembly plants that make Chevy's full-size Silverado trucks survived closings that General Motor announced will take place between early 2006 and 2008. The Silverado is a mainstay of Chevy's lineup, a popular truck the company hopes will continue to beef up its domestic sales, so fans don't have to worry about it going away any time soon.

  • Performance Package with enhanced towing capability for 2500 4WD models includes VortecMAX 6000 V-8 producing 345 hp

  • Extended cab with both 2WD and 4WD short box models, with Vortec 5300 V-8 and LT trim

  • Duramax Diesel engine on heavy duty trucks paired with an Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission

  • Silverado SS 2WD truck

  • Silverado Hybrid models are available nationwide

  • Revised extendable outside camper mirror

  • OnStar and XM Satellite Radio antennas are combined into a single unit

  • OnStar Plus package now includes OnStar, XM Satellite Radio and steering wheel radio controls
