In the Driver's Seat of the H2
The climb up to the H2's cabin is steep -- the chrome tubular assist steps are more than a fashion accessory, they're pretty much a necessity for entry. Once I was up in the cabin, I was unprepared for the level of refinement and luxury I found -- the H2 is really nice inside! HUMMER has paid attention to the tactile -- practically every surface is buttery smooth, from the leather seats to the leather-covered center console cover to the leather-trimmed door panels and the leather-padded grab handle on the dash. Acres of cured cow skin dress the H2, and it's high quality hide at that. The H2's bucket front seats are incredibly comfortable, well-constructed and adjustable, and electrically heated. The rear seats are also comfortable and heated. A single jump seat (part of the Lux Series package) in the third row suffers from a lack of leg room, and would be best reserved for short trips.
The H2's dash and gauge cluster are rugged and practical, with exposed Allen bolt heads dressing connecting points. It would have been easy to go overboard with styling here, but to HUMMER's credit, the military theme is underplayed for the most part, except for a massive gear selector that's shaped and mounted like an airplane thrust control. Cool.
