While you can raise and lower the whole vehicle a couple of inches (just like a municipal bus), it just takes too long. It probably takes no more than 4 or 5 seconds but it feels like 4 or 5 minutes when someone like your mother-in-law is trying to hoist herself on board in a sleet storm.
Ignoring for the moment their excessive - generally completely unnecessary - size, weight and power, the major shortcoming of oversized and over-powered SUVs is their unsustainable fuel consumption numbers. Ultra high price vehicles like the Range Rover, however, are probably not so much of a threat to global warming as, say, a mass item like the Trailblazer since so few of them will be bought. Their high price will see to that.
Regular readers know I’m not an unqualified lover of SUVs. But if Mssrs Dow, Jones and I were ever to get on friendly terms, this is one SUV I’d seriously consider.
