Jeep Liberty enthusiasts can watch for some new features for the 2005 model year:

  • A freshened-up exterior
  • Tweaks to the interior
  • More rugged appearance for the Jeep Liberty Renegade
  • A diesel engine, a U.S. first for a mid-sized SUV

The Diesel

  • 2.8-liter common rail diesel (CRD), with an estimated 160 horsepower at 3800 rpm and with 295 lb.-ft. torque at 1800 rpm
  • Available on both Sport and Limited models

Jeep Liberty Renegade

The Jeep Liberty Renegade has a flatter hood, taller grille, off-road foglamps and taillamp guards.

  • The vehicle has functional rock rails, and four skid plates. Model options include:

    • P235/70R16 all-terrain tires with wider treads
    • GPS DVD-based navigation radio
    • More refined seat fabric
    • Overhead light bar

    Changes Across the Line

    • Exterior design features a new front fascia, grille, foglamps, fender flares and body side-moldings.
    • Interior refinements include relocated power window switches, new instrument panel cluster graphics and trim bezels, and improved seat comfort.

    Suspension

    • Coil spring independent front suspension and link-coil rear suspension provide a good ride on or off road.
