A third row seating option is new for 2005. It's a handy addition if you occasionally need a few more seats, especially for kids, but even though there's a sliding second row seat, getting out of the third row is somewhat awkward for adults.
New standard features for 2005:
- Roof rails with crossbars
- Remote keyless entry
- Rear tonneau cover
- Star Safety System
The Star Safety System includes Vehicle Stability Control and traction control, an anti-lock brake system with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist.
Two Engine Choices
- Standard 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, 160 hp
- Optional 3.3-liter V6, 230 hp
- Choose front-wheel drive or full-time 4WD with either engine
Towing Capabilities

- V6 Highlanders can tow 2,000 pounds, or up to 3,500 with the towing prep package
