2005 Ford Excursion SUV can tow up to 11,000 pounds

The Excursion is Ford's largest SUV and the only one in their sport utility lineup--and its segment--that's available with a diesel engine, Ford's 6.0L Power Stroke™.

Full-size SUVs aren't for everyone. They use a ton of gas and they're expensive, but they fill a need for drivers who need the ability to carry up to 9-passengers in addition to their towing and cargo requirements.

New for 2005

  • jeweled headlamps
  • new grille and bumper
  • revised wheels
  • new Eddie Bauer two-tone seating color scheme, with Medium Pebble surrounded by Charcoal Black

Excursion Trim Levels

  • XLS
  • XLT
  • Eddie Bauer
  • Limited

Excursion Powertrain

Excursion is powered by a choice of three engines. The SUV can tow up to 11,000 pounds when properly equipped.

  • The 5.4-liter SOHC Triton™ V8 engine is standard on two-wheel-drive models (255 hp and 350 lb.-ft. of torque).

  • The 6.8-liter SOHC Triton™ V10 engine is standard on the Eddie Bauer and Limited 4WD Excursion and optional on other models (310 hp and 425 lb.ft. of torque).

  • The 6.0-liter Power Stroke® V8 engine is a direct-injection, 32-valve diesel with a cast-iron block and cylinder heads. It's combined with a five-speed automatic transmission and delivers 325 hp and 560 lb.-ft. of torque.

The diesel powertrain has a Tow-Haul Mode to help the driver safely tow large loads up and down steep grades.

Excursion Safety & Security Features

  • BlockerBeam™ front bumper under-ride protection for crash compatibility with smaller vehicles.

  • Driver and front passenger air bags.

  • Steel side door beams.

  • Three-point safety belts are in all outboard seating positions.
