You say you want to own the powerful Dodge Ram SRT-10 pickup---but you need a four-door truck that seats four adults? Dodge has come through for 2005, offering its Viper-powered Ram truck in a Quad Cab configuration.

Here's what Dan Knott, Director of Street Racing and Technology (SRT), told the press about the new truck:

We knew when we came out with the world's fastest production pickup that there would be customers who would want that same ultimate performance, but in a pickup that offered four-passenger seating and towing capability. So, the question was, 'Can we create a more usable truck for the person who wants to haul more stuff, but is not willing to give up performance?' Our answer is the Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab: a truck that is just as bad and bold in terms of performance, but a little more capable and versatile in terms of hauling.

A Few Facts

  • 8.3-liter Dodge Viper V-10 engine
  • 500 horsepower and 525 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Four-speed automatic transmission
  • 48RE gearbox, adapted from a diesel engine application for its ability to handle large amounts of torque
  • Heavy-duty torque converter, custom transmission calibration and two-piece drive shaft, chosen for powertrain performance.
  • 4.56 gear ratio to improve launch feel, low-end acceleration and towing capability of up to 7,500 pounds
  • Fully hydroformed frame for strength and rigidity

Brakes

  • The braking system utilizes heavy-duty components, including four-piston calipers, with 15-inch rotors in the front and 14-inch rotors in the rear
  • There's a three-channel anti-lock brake system (ABS)
  • Front brakes are cooled with air that's ducted from the front fascia

Exterior Styling

The 2005 SRT-10 features a deep front fascia equipped with a wind splitter, signature cross-hair grille and sculpted sides, and a unique hood with a fully functional air intake that provides added bay cooling. A body-color aluminum tonneau cover, outfitted with a spoiler, is standard.

On the Inside

Inside the truck you'll find a Viper-like pushbutton starter, race-inspired, heavily bolstered seats, a leather-wrapped carbon fiber-patterned steering wheel and brushed metal accents on the instrument panel and door trim.
