While it may be true girls just wanna have fun, we also wanna have dependability, comfort, excitement, and value. Funny how that’s the same list we’re looking for in a mate. Lucky for us, the new 2005 Kia Sportage offers so much of the above, we may be able to delay that walk down the aisle for a few more years. Although you can’t quite cuddle with the Sportage, it will feel cuddly since it has such a pleasing exterior design that, although shares a lot of parts underneath with the Hyundai Tucson, has a more upscale style.

I like the split rear tailgate, the twin exhaust pipes on the V-6 model, and the strong shoulders in back that are reminiscent of Volvo SUVs. The beefy 16-inch standard tires come stock with alloy rims that fit nicely inside the wheelwells. The under-tired look is annoying and unbalanced, especially on an SUV, so I'm glad that Kia stepped it up in the rubber department.

The family SUV resemblance is there; while it’s always a challenge to make a box look good, even the LX model with the lower cladding has a contemporary appearance. We know that looks aren’t everything, in cars and in men, but there has to be an appeal on some level, and the Sportage has got it.
