Ford has donated its high-tech 24-7 concept pickup to the San Diego Automotive Museum, where it will remain on permanent display.

The concept truck was originally introduced at the 2000 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Techno-features allow a driver to access e-mail, use a hands-free mobile phone and obtain real-time route assistance, weather reports and custom features such as stock prices.

Drivers can customize the instrument panel by changing the layout of the gauges and engaging additional functions, such as e-mail, GPS and the videophone.

In a speech during the donation ceremony, Ford Division President Steve Lyons conveyed these thoughts from the manufacturer:

"Turning 100 years old is a milestone few companies ever achieve. "Henry Ford built this foundation. And it's been nurtured by multiple generations of the extended Ford family – our employees, retirees, dealers, suppliers, customers and enthusiasts in communities like San Diego. This is our way of saying ‘thank you.’"
