Kruse International will offer 18 of the SSRs through eight of its collector car auctions. Chevrolet will auction one Signature Series SSR through a GM-sponsored dealer auction in each of the division's five US sales regions. After the auctions are complete, Chevy will donate a portion of the proceeds to a charitable organization.
General Motors plans to keep SSR VIN #1 as part of its historic collection. GM donated VIN #2 to the Society of Automotive Engineers Foundation. It was used as a fundraiser for the Heinz C. Prechter Scholarship for Automotive Excellence, and brought $137,850 on ebay.
