A PREVIEW OF THE LR3
- Engine is a 4.4-litre Jaguar design with 300 horsepower, but tuned to meet the onroad/offroad needs of the LR3.
- Six-speed 'intelligent shifting' automatic transmission.
- Fully independent electronic air suspension.
- DVD navigation.
- Adaptive headlights that swivel in the direction the wheels are turned.
- Full seating for up to seven adults.
Even at first glance it's obvious that this is a Land Rover, from its front end resemblance to big brother Range Rover to the stepped roof that's reminiscent of the Discovery line.
The LR3 features a sunroof and two moonroofs, providing passengers with an open air environment.
Three rows of full seating replace the Discovery's two rows plus optional jumpseats. Large passenger doors provide easy access, with both second and third rows entered from the center doors.
Discovery's large cargo door has been replaced with asymmetrical upper and lower tailgates for easier access to the cargo area.
The Discovery name has been retired in favor of the LR3 designation in the United States. The vehicle will be called a Discovery 3 in all other world markets.
2005 LR3 Pricing
The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the SE model will be $44,995. The HSE model will retail for $49,995.
The Land Rover LR3 will be available at dealers in the fall of 2004.
