Chrysler's Summer Break
Thursday March 13, 2008
Chrysler sent its employees a memo today, notifying them that it will take a worldwide two-week break in July and telling them to plan a mandatory vacation during that time. The shutdown may be a new event for Chrysler, but other automakers do it. Chrysler says the shutdown brings the company in line with industry norms and that the time will be used (in part) to re-tool its manufacturing facilities. It sounds like the shutdown will occur every year going forward.
