Truck Tests at GM's Milford Proving Ground
Friday April 11, 2008
Last fall I had the chance to visit GM's Milford Proving Ground, where I spent the day driving a course that was set up to let participants compare the features found on all makes of full-size trucks. Some of the test runs focused on anti-lock brakes and stability control systems, demonstrating how they performed on wet or partly wet pavements. Other trucks were set up with trailers, and we had a chance to see which of them performed and handled best uphill and down. The course was designed by GM, so it's not hard to imagine which trucks did best overall. But GM didn't do any fancy footwork to deceive us, their trucks would have performed well under any similar circumstances. It was a good drive, and I was able to make some pretty decent comparisons during the tests.Photo © Dale Wickell
