First Impressions: Sierra & Silverado Hybrid Trucks
GM is getting closer to a release date for its Silverado and Sierra hybrid trucks. They were originally slated to be on dealer lots in late 2008, but it looks like the first half of 2009 is more likely. Some of the specs that GM released a year ago (for the Silverado's intro) have changed, and it won't be surprising if there a few other tweaks before production starts, but we're probably getting close to seeing the real-deal truck.I drove both hybrids at an event in Michigan, where the trucks were set up for performance comparisons with and without a boat and trailer hooked to the back. Vehicle Chief Engineer Mark Cieslak was in the passenger seat for my hybrid tests, offering insights and answering my questions as we navigated the routes.
