Chrysler's Let's Refuel America Program

Monday May 19, 2008
dodge free gasIf you're thinking about buying a new Dodge truck, check them out before July 7th to be included in Chrysler's Let's Refuel America program, an incentive that gives you a prepaid card to purchase $2.99 per-gallon fuel for three years. The price is good for the fuel that's specified for your truck. If specs say to use regular, and you pump midgrade, you'll pay 15-cents per gallon extra. Double that if you pump premium. There are yearly allotments and some restrictions, and if you choose the fuel program you probably won't be eligible for other current incentives, so ask a lot of questions before you buy. I can think of a few questions, but leave a comment if you've either talked with dealers about the program or have suggestions.
  • Can the card be used at any gas station?
  • How much gas allotment will I have each year?
  • What extra charges apply if I pump diesel on a gas card, or vice versa.
  • What other incentives are available right now?
  • Can the new owner use the card if I sell the truck?

Incentives that give you up-front savings could be a better option, especially if the price of gas declines during the next three years, but who knows if that will happen. Evaluate your choices before you make a decision.
