Which Concept Trucks Are Headed to Production?
Thursday February 28, 2008
There are plenty of concept vehicles out there with extreme features we aren't too likely to see on a car lot, but some of the newer concept trucks wouldn't have to undergo too many changes before heading to the production line. Like maybe the GMC Denali XT Hybrid, a truck that pairs GM's hybrid system with a new 4.9L version of its small-block V-8 engine. Or the Toyota A-BAT, which looks kind of like a cross between a Chevy Avalanche and a Honda Ridgeline, with some Toyota Prius body lines (and technology) thrown in. Two Jeep concepts are interesting -- the Gladiator or the JT would satisfy people who've been waiting for a Jeep truck. Which (if any) of these current concepts do you think will be converted to a production truck? Do you think more than one will show up on dealer lots? Or are they all just for show? Tell us about it.

Greetings. Thanks for all the fine work you do for enlightenment. I think the main thing to consider is the means of propulsion for all of our vehicles and its impact on the environment. The course we’re on now is not good. Even with the production of renewable fuels, i.e., less dependence on foreign oil, there are problems, e.g., which crops to plant and cultivate, food vs fuel? I understand that GMC for one has developed and tested a fuel-cell powered light duty truck for the military. I see these technologies as being the only viable courses for the future. However inconvenient, we must as a nation do and continue to do “the Right Thing” with regards to the environment and our resources.
Be Blessed!
