RETRAX Bed Cover Installation and Review

Wednesday May 9, 2007
I installed the RETRAX retractable bed cover on my 1997 Ford F-150 pickup a few years ago. After I sold the truck, I sure missed that cover, and must have talked it up enough, because my wife ordered a replacement for the new truck. I'm still not sure if she missed it too, or if she just didn't want to hear about it anymore. Installation steps can vary a little depending on your truck bed, but you'll find you don't need much mechanical expertise to install the cover.

I loved my retrax cover until this year, I purchased it in 2001. It was put on a vehicle that was garaged all the time. Low mileage. Less than 8000 miles a year. The cover started cracking for now reason. I reported this to retrax and their response was they don’t know why it happens but it just happens. I was also told I could get it fixed for about $450.00 or get $200.00 off on a new cover. My thoughts are, why would I pay for another cover that might or might not crack. I also show this vehicle. Too bad for the bad advertising with the Retrax name.
