Detroit Auto Show Past and Present

Monday December 18, 2006
Two Jeep concepts introduced in Detroit in 2005 are still getting some atttention. The Jeep Hurricane concept vehicle sounded pretty impressive when they started up both of its HEMI engines as it stood behind the stage curtain. I'm sure Jeep fans would like to get it off-road, because it looks like it'll go anywhere, anytime. The Jeep Gladiator doesn't look like a way-out concept at all. If it goes to production it would no doubt satisfy at least a portion of the people who have been waiting for a Jeep truck. This year Toyota will use the Detroit show to officially introduce its new Tundra, including the CrewMax, a big four-door version of the truck. Last year's show was shy on trucks so I'm hoping for a better mix of them in 2007.
