Meet the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Thursday March 23, 2006
We're about to get our first FJ Cruisers in at the Toyota dealership where I work. The sales staff attended a preview recently, where they had a chance to drive the vehicle. They came back with good things to say--I think the only negative I've heard is that the rear seat access could be better. Jason Fogelson reviewed the FJ Cruiser for us awhile back, and these pictures do a pretty good job of previewing the vehicle inside and out. Specs are available for those of you who want to get down to basics. So where did Toyota designers go for FJ Cruiser inspiration? A look back at classic Land Cruisers tells part of the story.

I bought the FJ Cruiser a week ago and its a great vehicle. The pros: 1) decent gas mileage (18.5 combined city/highway; 2) great looks and smooth ride (rides more like a truck than a car); 3) Toyota quality and reliability; 4) Great off-road vehicle; 5) Handles extremely well.
Cons: 1) Poor rearview visibility; 2) I found the front drivers seat to be uncomfortable on rides over 20 min long; 3)Entrance to rear seat a bit awkward, but seat is comfortable. On a scale of 1-10, its a 9.

Thanks for the input. It’s good to hear what owners think of their vehicles, especially new models like this that we haven’t had time to learn a lot about yet.

well, i have been checking in with dealers around here in Sarasota and Bradenton and find they all are wishing to add about $3000.00 to MSRP not fair if you ask me, pricing is high for what you get. back sit is OK, i do not care for the doors they should of made them open with out having to open the front door. Ride is OK, more HP would be nice. NO sunroof? why, that would be nice. Back window should of been design to opened down with power, just like the pick up trucks. side back sit window should of been design to open. over all nice SUV or TRUCK. i plan to hold a bit before i purchase one beouse of pricing at this time. all dealers here are requesting down payments….but over all i believe it a nice different look, with a lot to offer next to JEEP. Rag TOp design would also be nice….
