Expect to see a few surface design changes on the 2009 Frontier, but no sheet metal updates to the truck's body. Nissan added a few
safety features for 2009 and introduced some new trim level packages, like the Value trucks that come with groups of options and accessories that cost less than you'd spend adding them one by one. The PRO-4X Frontier is new this year -- a sportier version of the pickup, with tweaked off-road capabilities. The truck still comes as either a King Cab or a Crew Cab, with many configurations dependent on which body style and driveline you choose.

If this were a normal year I'd say it's almost time for Toyota to show us a new generation of Tacoma trucks, but the current downtrend in truck sales will no doubt affect Toyota's decisions about which way to go with major updates. Tacoma's capabilities got a boost when the current generation entered the market in 2005 with of a more powerful V6 engine and cranked up towing abilities. The truck is still available in a wide array of configurations, but the
most significant changes to 2009 Tacomas revolve around safety features and interior comfort, with a few exterior tweaks thrown in to give the truck a slightly different appearance. Prices are up about 5%, a fairly hefty increase.
